Portabella Mushroom

I have been on a mushroom kick lately, and since the mighty portabella has called my name quietly over the years, I finally decided to answer.

Brushed with olive oil, seasoned with a bit o’ salt, and lightly grilled, I was so pleasantly treated to a rich, meaty flavor. This thing tasted exactly like a delicious hamburger patty! The first one I ate outright, straight off the grill pan. I put the second one on a toasted gluten-free bun, with a little garlic/shallot mayo and had a very nice time with it.


Mushrooms are good sources of niacin and riboflavin and a number of other vitamins and minerals vital to human life. Plus, they are very low in calories. And did I mention they taste like hamburger?
